Switch your fold so that the free end comes up between the load and the strap. Now fold it down and pad the edge of the trailer then strap down over that.

part of my struggle i think is the fontaine rail is actually like a block with holes machined in it for the straps so not very roomy. plus my 30' straps way too long most of the time.FoolsErrand Thanks this. -
Ive seen those rails and dont think i'd like them. Its cheaper for a CNC to hog out a piece on autopilot than to pay a welder to build spools and pockets.
Cut some straps down and start marking the hook with a color code. I use a slash cut and torch the fray. Youll have a lot less to tuck in. Use the shorties for pallets, rebar and belly strapping. -

Not really pertain just to flatbed. But If you anticipate using electrical tape. Keep it in your front jeans pocket. You will warm it up enough to work well even in the coldest weather.
Not sure on R value of track pants, sorry. -
