Yes, I don’t like running up against the governor, and gives me a little room to spare to get around slower traffic.

You know, I've thought about this and I really just can't justify doing less than my governed speed. I came from a company that was governed at 65 to FCC which is 68. I have to say, it may be a small difference, but you really do notice how much easier it is to get above 600 miles in a day when going 68 vs 65. I really just wanna squeeze out as much as I can, since I'm paid by the mile.

I wonder why FCC doesn't use passmart. It's a neat feature I've had at my last company where you get 2mph extra by tapping the pedal twice. You only get 30min per day, so it keeps you from just doing it constantly. I could be wrong, but I think that only works on Freightliners.

I'm 55 years old started trucking in 1987. Still love to drive. No problem keeping the left door shut and running 650 to 700 miles a day,but in January of this year I came off the road took a 12 thousand dollar a year pay cut. One of the main reasons was because I was absolutely disgusted with the way drivers treat and interact with other drivers. I got to where I couldn't sleep at night worried that someone would block me in overnight not to mention the guys who take 30 minute breaks on fuel islands, the guys who you can smell before you see them it just became too much. I salute all you guys who can put up with it. I had to get out before I wound up in the hospital or jail. Stay safe everyone.

Well that makes sense then.. told them I don't like the freightshaker too much but I still want a manual, they said they don't have any peterbilt or Kenworths available right now. Guess the ones they have are automatic. Maybe they don't have very many. I know they do have manual KWs at least because the other guy in my orientation class got a manual KW. Don't know about the Petes though.

I’m currently in an Auto KW, waiting on a manual truck. It’s a decent truck, but I refuse to run in ice and snow in an auto...

Yeah that #### is sketchy. I definitely feel safer with a manual in snow. I feel like I drive safer in general too. I make turns way slower, slow down for traffic lights earlier etc.
