Mostly before my time but I have heard about how the owner was a friend to truckers. Here is an Overdrive article about it.
Recalling Mass 10 Truck Stop – ‘The Dump’ – and its owner, who treated truckers like royaltyclausland and BackwoodsGA Thank this. -
I stopped there a couple of times. There are a couple of fast food joints and a drug store on that property now. I was running NE regularly starting in 1984 and it was closed by then.
Filthy walls, some of covered in carpet, numerous "renovations" by slamming paneling over whatever had been there before. Ancient pumps....bzinger Thanks this. -
the one on Rte1 near or in Foxboro?
i remember one there, never been there, too many reports of parking across the road, then going across the road to the diner, and going back to your truck to find a few things "walked off".
that one???
can't recall the namex1Heavy Thanks this. -
"The Dump" was actually named Mass 10 Truckstop, because it was just off of the Mass Tpk at exit 10, Auburn MA , the junction of originally the Mass Pike and US 20. Later on to include I-290 N to Worcester or I-395 South to Connecticut. There is a Taco Bell where the pumps used to be now.x1Heavy, Trucker61016, bzinger and 1 other person Thank this.

Showers had curtains that separated everyone and everything. If you weren't careful all your bags would get wet..

Food was the best part.It lived up to its name.

nope, this one (the one i know to have been a dump and high theft place to park at) was on Rte 1 in or near Foxboro, (not too far off I-495) i know, i had driven by it many, many times.x1Heavy Thanks this.

it was Mike's Truck stop....now it is interstate travel plaza
took me sometime. i vaguely remember it was a person's name...and it was a tad bit away from Foxboro, MA..
the building was on the opposite side of the road/highway (Rte1).
and you had to cross over Rte 1 back to your truck, and hope and pray you were not vandalized or had your batteries stolen.x1Heavy, Studebaker Hawk and BackwoodsGA Thank this.
