Maybe you'll get in quicker then. My recruiter was from Memphis and she handled my app herself. I am finally going on Sep 15th. Another poster here (flatbroke) went to orientation in Syracuse in August and said there were only 18 people there. That is probably why it takes so long to get a date. Good luck and keep us posted.

Granite check out Arrow Trucking. They are a OTR company that I know is hiring. I am pretty sure Mass. is in their hiring area. It's a week orientation and then 4 weeks with a trainer. They are out of Tulsa. Good luck man!

Look local, find a local company to work for. That is ALWAYS the right answer. Those big OTR companies just suck........

Well all I can say is good luck! I was witgh CR England and I bailed out which was a pretty huge mistake BUT things have a way of working out sometimes... I cant necessarily say it was a bad move now but brazen. I had went to the school and had been with numerous PSYCHO trainers that made the experience truly gut renching unless you somehow get a really cool guy... My first trainer was awesome 30 years exp. Got in the truck and drove just critiqued me on what a common sense driver would literalk hazzards and dangers. Other than that I got in the truck and just drove... it was great that lasted about a month then I went to phaze 2 with 2-3 rookie trainers and they literally would tell me how and when to shift turn harder on and on it was brutal. So I was fed up training I had been in the truck long enough with these idiots plus I just knew enough to where I needed to be kicked out of the nest and fly on my own,,,, and really what the heck you need a trainer for anyhow when he's always sleeping when your driveing its a joke and an insurance ploy. So I found some sweet talking recruiter and somehow got out of england which I was shooting myself in the foot becuaseonce I left I was done for... generally speaking..according to my credentials,,.. I had like maybe 3 months expererience and well basically left england for a farce... i didnt go to another job it was a lkong story but didnt happen SO>>> Here I am with 5k in the hole no job cant go back to England and no one wantys you cuz if your not going to go to their school and owe them moneythey would rather train someone..So yeah Im done for then I talked to a friend who went to school with me with 3 months exp also he basically had a friend who had a trucking comany vouch for him and say he had 3 years exp. so I did the same thing got super lucky and got employed and got a sweet ### truck and driving solo. I am not saying it was the right thing but I have a high common sense appraoch to things and never risk when I drive. Especially me being new I back slow I drive slow and I make sure I'm not gonna hit anything cuz this was a great opportunity and odnt want to screw it up. All this training crap is insurance BS. If your not an idiot and have common sence yopu can drive on your own without haveing 3-6 months with some ignorant going nowhere losers who basically only train because their so broke and cant really manage their money nor their lives. If you are a common sence guy and really want a job I can help you get a job as long as you can drive the truck have your cdl and nothing major on your dac...well good luck

If all else fails, you could try school bus companies. I know, it's not CDL-A driving, it certainly won't count as OTR experience, and the pay isn't the best, but it is a driving job with a huge responsibility attached to it (probably won't look bad on your resume to have been responsible for 20-77 children's lives every day). You will also gain experience driving a commercial vehicle in the whole spectrum of driving conditions. Then you could try the trucking outfits again in a year or so, and hopefully more freight will be moving then.

That is what I am doing to get my foot in the door of the transportation industry. I have an unorthodox scheme for going from CDL-B to CDL-A, but that is a tangent currently unworthy of elaboration. Also, I'm getting free training. I will be working for Dail Transportation in Epsom, NH once I pass my road test. I can PM you their contact information if you'd like.

Other trucking outfits/companies with trucks supporting them operating in NH are:

J.P. Noonan- has a terminal in Hooksett, NH- mostly oil tankers & dry bulk by my observations

Pike Industries- They are a paving company, they have asphalt plants in Tilton, and a few other locations in NH, unfortunately the season is winding down, but around April 1, they and most other construction outfits should be hiring. I've seen them with 18 wheel end dumps and lowboy work. I've been told O/O's and small fleets also contract with them, could be a possible source for leads.

Continental Paving, Londonderry NH, another construction outfit, same seasonal type work. They do pave with 18 wheel end dumps. Actually they seem to be live floor/end dump hybrids.

Plourde Sand & Gravel, they've got a place in Bow, NH, and I think they have (or used to have) a yard in Allenstown on the left from route 3 towards Hooksett, not too far down from the police station. Unfortunately, same seasonal deal.

I've seen trucks lettered with Fournier Trucking, possibly out of Bow NH. I'm not sure what their deal is, but might be worth investigating. Seems like a smaller outfit, runs a mix of trucks, each a different color and make.

I have no idea on the hiring status of any of these companies, and all but Fournier are running day-cabs. All of the other NH companies I can think of are either O/O's or 5 truck or less operations that likely won't be hiring anyone. I see lots of trucks parked with these small guys.

There's a truck stop on Route 3-A in Bow, NH you could head over there and see what companies are running through, maybe talk to drivers.

I know this isn't exactly what you're looking for, but they are options.

    Good luck.
