If you own the truck, change the locks in your truck doors to the ones that make it impossible to lock yourself out.

Drive a peterbilt or kenworth, you'll never lock yourself out.
Barring that...instead of hiding a key, keep a short coil of stiff, yet bendable wire zip-tied to the truck. If someone finds the key, it's easy to implement. It takes a minute to break in with wire.Another Canadian driver, SteveScott and HillbillyDeluxeTruck Thank this. -
I locked myself out of a 2012 379. Wasn't hard at all. Push the lock button down and then pull out on the outside door latch when you shut the door. Door was locked. Had a spare hidden so I was ok.Another Canadian driver, LoSt_AgAiN, bzinger and 3 others Thank this.

This is what I do, except I take the key out of the ignition when I'm not gonna be around the truck for a while. I keep my 2nd key on my key ring on my belt, and a 3rd key hidden on that one spot on my truck.Another Canadian driver, theSoz, D.Tibbitt and 1 other person Thank this.
