I guess what concerns me about running at $1.16 a mile hundreds of miles away from home, one breakdown, tow, blown tire, etc., will pretty much put you in the hole. I'd rather be in the hole at my house LOLRERM, PPLC, Dale thompson and 4 others Thank this.

There seems to be vastly different types of logic being used in various states, and it's not really following political ideology. Where I live here in California (the communist state as so many love to call it) they're loosening restrictions in many areas. In my county (Sonoma) they're opening up many of the parks and expect many business to be open again by the end of this month. We have less that 150 people who have tested positive and 2 deaths in a county with over 500,000 people. Of course California has a tourist and service based economy, and Oregon doesn't, so I can see where they'd want to get things rolling sooner down here. Kate Brown seems determined to destroy what remains of the Oregon economy and put everybody on welfare. I've always felt that way about her. She's somewhat of a nut job.PPLC, Dale thompson, Ruthless and 2 others Thank this.

This is only anecdotal, however, my son told me he heard from a friend this morning who lives in the Seattle area. They went shopping at a Costco. Wanted to buy meat and they were handed a numbered ticket and had to stand in line and wait to purchase rationed meat.
They were # 91...86scotty, PPLC, Dale thompson and 1 other person Thank this. -
I guess what concerns me about running at $1.16 a mile hundreds of miles away from home, one breakdown, tow, blown tire, etc., will pretty much put you in the hole. I'd rather be in the hole at my house LOL
I knew that all the mechanical aspect of the equipment were taken care of and remained hopeful for not experiencing any major hardships. I am financially prepared too and I was not running on a shoestring, either.
I had once a break down that cost me over 12 Gs with towing and all other pleasantries included. The rate at that time was about 2.5 dol per all miles. Neither 2.5 dol per mile nor 1.16 dol per mile in such a break down confrontation would have saved from falling into a hole.
The way I look at it is that at the end I was able to keep $3200 despite $1.16. So ... I am that much better off today than a week ago. No unemployment would compensate me as much after 8 days of work.
Of course, I do realize, that running at this rate is not sustainable. I could not do it for ever.
However,
I remember once having heard an interesting statement, perhaps made by you (?), that one should run the same way in good times as in bad times, and I hope that the law of averages will eventually describe the legacy of such a doing.Truckermania, Dale thompson, Adegon and 2 others Thank this. -
That’s terrible news Scooter in Oregon. Seems completely nuts. Hopefully business and people will just decide themselves when to open up and not listen to such craziness.
BoostedTeg, PPLC and Scooter Jones Thank this.
