Just anecdotal evidence here: At least 2 Walmart super stores I have been to in the last 48 hours in NW Indiana(Lafayette/Montecello) all of the fresh meat, beef, pork, chicken, totally wiped out.
My first job (1969) was like a lot of teenagers was working in a grocery store. Learned a lot.
If you take a close look at all of the inventory of any given grocery store at the moment, be it Walmart, Kroger, IGA , take your pick, you will notice not only holes where inventory is depleted, in all departments, not just toilet paper, but the stores are "fronting" the rest of the products to hide the fact that instead of having say 18-24 cans of tomato soup on the shelf, there are only 6-8.
The disruptions in the supply chain are hitting now, a delayed response because it takes anywhere from 1-8 weeks for the product to run out, depending on what it is, how it is packed etc.
It sure as heck isn't because there aren't enough trucks to haul it.650cat425, PE_T, Just passing by and 4 others Thank this. -
I'm definitely interested in some fresh pork -
Walmart here in Beef sausages are pretty much gone.
Im just waititng to see if the rest of the meats will suffer. The special one wants one of the steaks tomorrow, been three years since the last one. So I gave in and pulled out a pair, one for her and me. -
Looks like you have to slaughter them yourself though.

Interesting thread. I learned quite a bit.
On the hogs in MN and SD. Can you not buy them cheap, haul them to another state and make a bunch of money? Why do they need to euthanize them? They get too big and the meat is no good or what’s the problem? Thanks.Truckermania Thanks this.
