Ah might have a wee dram to get it up that high. Its fast. Helps loosen me up a bit.
Thats outrageous. 192 means you are probably trying to understand where the road is about 2/3 mile down and are there by the time your adjustments are in.
Sometimes cars throw all their oil at those speeds when they cannot stand the pressures anymore. -
with this virus, and people out of work, businesses closed, the state(s) are suffering dwindling budgets.
i suspect many more states are going to, or already have increase road patrols.
this would of course trickle down to city and town budgets as well, needing to be refilledWasted Thyme Thanks this. -
Slightly jealous.
Roads are unnaturally empty.
But I'm still governed at 68.
And my personal car is still waiting for a new tire, but all the tire shops are closed on weekends. It's been sitting on a jackstand for a month. -
Georgia has had super speeder laws for ages.15 mph over...youre placed in handcuffs for reckless driving.
-
For excessive speed I wish they'd just place the speeder's car in a crusher....... and make the owner crush it.
-
While not(technically) for speeding I do know that the city of Rialto,California has an ordinance in the books that allows them to confiscate and crush a vehicle if it’s involved in street racing.AModelCat Thanks this.

Meanwhile I'd love to see the other direction, some sort of graduated licensing system.
Level 1: you have to stay within 50-100 miles of home. Daytime only. (Sorta like a learner's permit)
Level 2: restricted to home state, not allowed on highways.
Level 3: pretty much what we have now.
Level 4: allowed to operate above 60 mph
Level 5: gain access to special "exclusive" roadways at speeds up to 150 mph.
(CDLs would be in a different lane all together.)
Probably impossible to implement and/or enforce, but I'd love to get my car up to the speed it was designed for and not have to worry about Debbie Donut weaving furiously at 40 (in a 65) while trying to take a selfie. -
what do you drive that was designed for frequent 100+ mph? what tires are on this beast you have on jackstands?
i like the idea of a graduated license. i’d pay more money for the legal right to drive fast(er). -
Move to Germany.
I'm pretty sure my tires are a step below Z rated. (Been ages since I gave speed ratings a thought.) they're an aggressive summer tread. Came with the car and I broke the piggy bank to pay for it. So I couldn't go out and get new tires for a year, preferably I can get more time out of the other 3 until I can get new shoes at all corners.
I may have taken it to sub triple digits speeds and can neither confirm nor deny driving *WITH* traffic above what the constabulary would prefer.
Anything more than an econobox should get into the 70's-80's, just about every Imported car should be good for at least 90. (The caveat is that there are some dumbed-down domestics that spec cheaper tires since 65 is the limit. I think Patrick Bedard from Car & Driver did an editorial on it once.) so a performance/luxury car like a 3 Series, IS, Z or G should actually be pretty stable up to about,,,, 115?120? From the factory and in good repair.
And of course some cars are designed to go even faster, but that costs money.mjd4277 Thanks this.
