Thats possible. If so, watching the folly up close and personal will be an excellent lesson for our new driver. I learned as much at bad companies as good ones.
feldsforever, Opendeckin, Derailed and 3 others Thank this. -
Good thing the OP didn't tell us what make/model of truck he's running.
magoo68 Thanks this. -
Why would the op need to know that, let the owner get the parts,
Opendeckin, buddyd157 and baha Thank this. -

Yeah, to get parts at the dealer, you’re going to need the last 6 digits of your VIN. At that moment, you can also ask the parts guy for specific details about the truck like the make and model of your engine.

The dealer can pull up and print the order sheet with all the specs of the truck, this includes serial numbers of the engine.PE_T Thanks this.

Hey guys it’s a Cummins isb479 engine.. the truck is a 2014 freightliner m2 106.. Thank you for all the replies.
My boss is on me to make sure I get a fair price to have the exhaust manifold gasket replaced. Freightliner was going to charge at least $3000. I took my invoice to a second mechanic who told me they charge me $234 basically for nothing. Other than identifying the problem which I was grateful for. My boss does not seem to understand that the mechanic needs to make money to. I feel like I’m getting it worked on at a place that is much more honest now just due to the fact that it is a family owned place with seemingly humble people. They were quick to help me and dropped me off at the local hotel.
how much would you guys pay for this type of job? Again- thank you! -
Do a proper pretrip and maintain your fluid levels.
Take care of it like it's yours.
Now that you know what it is, if you have a breakdown you can tell road service what they're coming to work on.
2 years from now you'll know a lot more.
As long as that owner will fix it when it's in need, and does proper PMs, I wouldn't sweat it.feldsforever Thanks this.
