Oh man
Well at the risk of giving an answer that sounds a lot like a cop-out...
I'm not really wired for questions like that to be honest. You don't want to go down that "woulda coulda shoulda" road. It just opens the doors to regrets and bad feelings.
There are lots of things that I wish would have happened differently, but I really don't see too many other ways I could have set out to do what I did knowing what I did at the time. As I'm a little more experienced now, a lot of those little accidents probably would not have happened, so in that sense, knowing what I know now simply would have prevented a lot of grief. Unfortunately you can never start out knowing what you know later, otherwise it's not starting out. That's just the way I see it.
On balance, I don't have too many regrets. I've needed a handout and a reset, but I'm better for wear. I'm still positioned where I think is best in the industry, as an O/O with some options. I'm still glad I didn't go with a driver mill for what passes as experience, teaming for absurd pay. I wouldn't have stuck with it much longer than that to get to where it was a good job assuming that really happens.
In life there are the things we do, and the things we don't. Sorry I can't do better than that. Maybe tomorrow I'll think of something.scooter823, walleye, pilot8251w and 13 others Thank this.
