Sorry I forgot I posted that pic.
FoolsErrand nailed it. Preloaded trailer, new driver. He hooked up and was pulling out and going to circle around behind the trucks lined up (see the black KW) so he could secure his tarps/straps. Started to make a right and out from under the trailer he came.
When he got it cranked all the way back up, he got back under it only to almost do the same thing. He had to slam into it in reverse to actually get it to lock. The whole process took him like most of the morning and early afternoon.
Everything about that truck was F'ed up. It sounded like a lawnmower when running, pretty sure the 5th wheel was jacked up and all the tires had funky wear patterns.FoolsErrand, misterG and baha Thank this. -
High hooks can fool you. Had a trailer dropped in the shop. New man was hooking up to it and I knew the trailer was high for the truck hooking up to it. I tried to stop him but I heard the it slam and latch. Still had a small gap between the truck and trailer but the jaw was around the the pin. Handle was fully in. Dropped the half loaded trailer 30 feet out the door.
G O A L early and never take anything for granted. Never high hitch. If you ever see what I described pull up. Lower the trailer and rehook. -
2 chains and move it. It aint going anywhere and ur holding up the frickin line. Aint asking u to drive it down the freeway. Just move out from under the crane so the rest of us could get loaded
-
If u cant get a high hook to release, raise the landing gear a bit. Park the trailer brakes and rock forward back a hair with the tractor then climb on the deck and use your weight to sway the deck side to side. It may pop down and the you can unhook and rehook correctly. Dont forget your airlines.
MACK E-6 Thanks this.
