fact of the matter is, you did get nailed. if you had perhaps a better lawyer, a reckless driving charge could have been plead down to something much minor than that. all the cities/counties/towns/states want is the money.
so, you either had a crap lawyer, or if you represented yourself, you had a crap lawyer.
you really are "lucky" even though you don;t care to accept that FACT, that W/E will take you on. there ARE WORSE companies out there.
you (in all of basic terminology), "did the crime, so now you have to do the time"
are the guys here judgmental towards you?
maybe yes, this is an industry with nitwits, morons, jerkwads, and a plethora of other idiots, that are doing things that are making the rules, laws, regulations, and most importantly, FEEDING the anti-trucking groups, and organizations to clamp down on the industry even more, and what SUCKS is that many of those morons causing all this to happen, LEAVE the industry and the remaining ones suffer from them.
go to W/E, do your time for ONE FULL YEAR, then move on. or, you might get "lucky", where you can go onto being a driver-trainer, or get onto a good dedicated account, in your area, and be home either daily, or weekly.Last edited: May 14, 2020

I drive for WE. I don't see it being much different than the rest of the megas. A little more disorganized with a noticable disregard for professional behavior on everyone's part LoL
Flatbed pays ok. Van not so much. But I hear they have regional divisions. Even with some guaranteed minimum if you can get the required # of runs in a week.
But I'm sorta confused. If you need a job and they'll take you, and you don't have other companies that will right now, what are you asking? IMO we all do what we gotta do till we get to do something better... Easy enough.Jayatlswag, blairandgretchen, Lostmykey and 5 others Thank this. -
I liked the industry a lot better when DWI/OWI's were career ending events...
magoo68, HoneyBadger67, buddyd157 and 2 others Thank this. -
That sounds about right.
Well your debate with the law didn’t work out so well.dunchues, Deere hunter, HoneyBadger67 and 4 others Thank this. -
I'm being as non-judgemental as I can be. You have two issues to be aware of. The first is you now have a conviction for reckless driving. I suggest you take a look at Table 2 of 383.51. IF you get another conviction for ANY of those listed charges for 3 years not just reckless you WILL have your CDL suspended for 60 days. The 2nd issue is right now some carriers won't hire you this close to that conviction. If W.E. is taking a chance then I would go on and drive for them. Just keep 383.51 in mind!

This is the same type of defense that the junkies use in debates...To make themselves seem "lofty and proper", if you drink coffee, or use aspirin... you're no different than a heroin user...
