Hey turker. I have a 29 XLR. Its real close to the LTD just a few different things like where the knobs are and things. But just minor stuff as far as i know. Same Output I believe.

    TURKER Thanks this.

The Cobra 29 XLR was a late 70's radios. Forty channel radios came out in 1977 and the XLR was one of the first for Cobra. I'm not sure when they stopped making them. You won't get a lot of wattage out of them, but really good audio makes them sound great.

Just be careful that you dont blow the finals in that radio. they no longer make those anymore and an upgrade to mosfet finals may be expensive......if it can be done at all.

Does XLR stand for "extra luxury radio"?

I found a pic of one on the internet. Looks like a 29 LTD except it has a rotary dimmer knob and an "h.f." switch....whatever that's for. I'll bet it's very close to, if not like a 29 LTD.

Its real close to the 29 LTD. Only difference is the knobs. A little different spots on the radio. But thats it. Its basically the same. I love my XLR. But still i gotta Uniden PC78LTW with a 1969 final. Nice radio. Would rather use it. But before i would buy another id use the XLR.

Let's stop the similarity thing now before something goes wrong. The 29XLR and the 29LTD are quite similar on the outside, but, when you open the covers, you'll be looking at 2 completely different set of rules, the XLR does not have the "guts" of the 29 LTD. I just want to make sure someone doesn't buy an XLR thinking he can mod it like an LTD, I get that often here in the shop.

HF in this application stands for "hash filter" which does a nice job filtering out higher pitched white noise.

yes an XLR is close to an LTD but no cigar. All LTD's are the same the difference is in the Intigrated circut. the XLR has an 858 and the LTD has a upd2816.They both can be modified.
