My 5th wheel is air release. And I'm basically ruined now. Just the thought of actually pulling a lever is just...............overwhelming.
I need a moment.
The journey begins - purchased a truck.

What do you look for when you buy a truck?

That's just wrong. You drive an automatic, correct?

Pulling a tanker, that's the only exercise I get.Dave_in_AZ, blairandgretchen, RStewart and 1 other person Thank this. -

I recently bought a truck to start my journey. It only has one cup holder. I’m so new at this, and so overwhelmed, that I’m not even sure just how jealous to be of an air released fifth wheel...

You never know what kind of deals you might see while in the market for parts, and with Rush being so big they can buy in volume. I was no different when I bought my truck in used in 2017, I wanted to replace the 5th wheel straight away. While always a fan of The Holland 3500 I was taken aback by the Jost and how easy it is to rebuild. The Jost rep was at the shop showing off his product so I saw it first hand, you can literally rebuild that plate within 10 minutes and the price was right - sold.
Reminds me of the great J Geils Band's tune First I Look At The Purse - look it up it spells your story about buying a truck - sort of

No 10 speed.
Here's my old clutch I just had done. Also $2300.
700K miles.

Dampening springs are broken.
I lost the clutch in my truck last year in Lafayette, LA - nursed it up to my drop in Shreveport, LA the next morning. Touch over 3K at the Freightliner dealer in Shreveport. Could have had it done much cheaper at home - but that's life on the road.dwells40 and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
It was a diaphragm clutch. Installed with the yoke over the adjustment nuts. Never adjusted once in 697K miles.
Now they could have adjusted it, same complete disassembly involved, so why not just put in a new one.
Clutch brake was going.
Rear main seal was good. Was told,"If it's not broken, don't fix it."
