I am not a trucker but the wife of a new one at central. 1bad has been with them for 8 mth now. If the miles are so great why did we lose a car, our home and almost our marriage. The people at crs promise the moon but you never get a chance to see it. 1bad is a company driver so he can't refuse anything. He goes where and when they tell him to. He has amny of trips under a 100 miles and we have never seen a week of over 3000 miles. Heck most weeks were under 2000 so if you can live off that go for it. But if you have a family at home to support I hope you have tons of money in the bank and know how to budget it very well. Hard to budget anything when you bring home around $300 a week. After they take all their fees most week that's what you will get. They could care less if your losing everything you have worked for in the past. As long as they have their mansions and nice cars that's all that matters.

When I was at Central a year ago the miles were better.
Yes there were drivers that were not getting miles, but many were.
I would go to terminals now and then, though I did my best to stay away from them. It was funny though that many of the drivers you saw at the terminals were the same ones every time. Did not matter if I was in Irving, Conley or SLC. I saw many of the same drivers every time I hit a terminal.
    Why was this?
Because many of these drivers were terminal rats.
They would get no miles because all they did was ##### and moan, but did not communicate well with dispatch. Did not matter who there dispatcher was, because they would not talk to them. They would get late loads, many times because it was late when given to them, but they would accept things without checking them first. This got them a poor reputation with dispatch as unreliable.

No, this is not the only reason for drivers not getting miles. That is obvious.
Miles are down because consumers are not buying as much and there are too many trucks on the road. If central closed there school for 2 months the miles would go up. Allot. But they want that extra money so they will not.

On a side note. I noticed in a post earler that they are charging a 100 dollar fee at the school now. That is funny as hell.
For years and years drivers would get 300-2000 dollar bonuses for going to companys.
They use to pay you 300 and airfare just go to to the company and check them out. Even if you did not take the job. No, central did not do this, but it was a normal practice for experianced drivers coast to coast for many years.

Well we lost a few more today we are down to 36 from the 75 we started with including yourself. I think we lost 2 to the cdl due to vision. 4 more go back today to try there luck at it. Greyfox and I got our cdl first try.

So, on a side note what happened? Why did you leave? Shoot me an e-mail, we were worried about you and of course Jeff doesn't tell us the details.

For thoes of you that are wondering why the one that started this string of thread isn't posting. I am have some slight computer problems. Working on it now.

Well as I stated above our class started with just over 75 ppl. That dropped to a 51 by the end of day 1. Then day 2 came lost about 14 more then added one and then he decided to leave. This is a all guy class.

We lost 2 so far to the CDL test due to vision. Couple guys go back today. We start pre-trip today.

The southern class started this AM with 12, now down to 11. Now that permits have been received, we are out on the range, pre-tripping and straightline backing. Feels good to be out on the range.
