C15 mxs acert front crank seal leaking a small amount of oil. What is involved in fixing this? Labour time , cost etc? Downside of letting it be for now? Can it cause big probs or just going to leak a bit?

are you sure it's the crank seal? sometimes the o-ring on the crank sensor gets weak and oil will seep out and it will look like the crank seal is leaking.

a good mechanic can do it in half a day or less. depending on how easy it is to get to. on my w900 I have changed it with out removing the radiator. skinned knuckles and all, but doable.

Basically I won't be going into Cali with my truck. I am not going to retrofit a DPF filter or buy a newer truck. I don't have the money or desire to do either of those things.

    Cat sdp Thanks this.

I just installed a new crank sensor on mine and it's now leaking oil from that. Brand new and o ring looks fine. Its tight but will show oil running down out of area now. Fresh in frame and all clean so i can definitely see that where its coming from. What do I need to do?

Remove sensor and check o-ring. Check sealing surface on the engine for damage.

Defective oring or defective sensor...(leaking through sensor case) or surface where oring seats is dirty or damaged.

Seems to be slow leak around it. That's why I thought maybe it had a second o ring to seal it against the block
