5EK to 2WS

    I have a 5ek 3406e that i want to put in my 08 389, ive read that 40 pin ecms wont communicate with the cab multiplex wiring but ive also seen glider kits with 40 pin ecms that work perfect, how do they do this.

    Can i just slap a 2ws ecm and engine wiring harness on a 5EK so I can have a 70 pin ecm that will work with 2008 peterbilt cab?

    The truck has an SDP cat so I have the right oem cab harness. i was planning on plugging into a 2ws ecm with the factory harness since its a 70 pin plug on both 2ws and SDP ecms

    You might want to do some research on that. Sdp ecm is something like 120 pin.

    Yes SDP ecm is 120 pin on engine side. where the cab harness plugs into the ecm is 70 pin - i think. i know its the same plug on both 2ws and SDP for the cab harness

    You can't swap the 40 pin ecm to a 70 pin ecm on that 5ek. Unless mawk ind. Can fab a new harness. And I pretty sure they don't on engine side. Just on truck harnesses. So stick with the 40 pin and have mawk in. Fab a harness. If you have a 2ws engine I would go with that one instead.

    dfw. sdp was inframed with low comp pistons 40k miles ago and now needs inframe again. id rather just inframe the 5ek this time around.

    Could i just use a 2ws vin to order the engine harness so i can run a 2ws 70 pin ecm? the only difference i can tell from 5ek and 2ws is crank position sensor

    Won't work unless you replace the front engine structure and cam gear and 2ws sensors along with the valve cover base and t-stat housing. Its not that simple.

    Mawk Industries is permanently closed according to google, is my only option Kustom Truck in OR? All I need is the 70pin to 40pin adapter
