You're in my back yard. Between Convoy and Uber, you should be finding $2-3 per mile loads fairly easy right now. I'm doing a round trip from Manteca to Portland then back to Tracy tomorrow morning from Convoy at $2.80 per mile. I normally have contract loads coming back from the northwest, but not this week. Of course, I haul reefer which tends to bring a bit more per mile, but there seem to be plenty of dry van loads too.
Oh that's cool. My best friend has been running around the bay area since 98 as an OO with his own authority and he's going to show me the ropes. I used to live in San Jose and San leandro for many years. I ran just California for 15 years straight with a lot of Bay area.
I love the west coast even though that I 5 can get tedious and don't even get me started on Portland lol!
Portland and Seattle have been great since the pandemic started. I haven't hit any traffic up there since mid February. The rest of the year it's all about timing and avoiding the rush hour, just like the bay area. I don't drive to LA and I don't do local. Most of my work is up to Oregon/Washington and back home. That's the way I like it, and I'm home every 5-6 days.
That's really sweet. Ty for the information and I look forward to maybe seeing you out there sometime!
I just found out that it'll be a little while for me to get CA authority so it looks like I'll be limited to Texas only for a while unfortunately. I'll just have to wait to come out that way and I hope that I don't go broke waiting.
