VHF radios

Dont know your point, if truckers are bleeding into your Vhf radios you need better radios. Dont blame truckers because your Vhf does not have decent channel rejection. Put a Bandaid on it and go cry somewhere else. 27 Mhz does not bleed into 150 - 160 mhz. Go ahaed call the FCC this wil; be funny.

 

LADD 3 (public VHF frequency for parts of Canada) is 154.325 MHz. These are not CB radios (e.g., 27 MHz). He's referring to Canadian drivers using their VHF radios (quite popular in the west) in the US.

Very few, if any, Canadian drivers are legal to be using those radios and channels in the US and they REALLY shouldn't if it is a frequency in use by local emergency services.

The group I was doing OS hauls with all had and used VHF radios in the US (nobody uses CB for OS up here), but we would switch frequency if there was traffic as we had user programmable radios (illegal in Canada)... common sense.

 

Vhf radios should not be bleeding on to public service channels at all. If they do then he should by all means turn it in.

There are only so many vhf frequencies, what may be used as a public trucker channel in Canada, May well be a fire depts one half of a repeater station in the USA. Too many ppl think, it’s my channel. No. It’s only your assigned channel for a certain air mile radius in your operating area.

 

Partially true, there are agreements in place between the country's, If a Fire Department is operating on a channel designated for public safety then you wont have fmrs radios coming programed on them, and it is illegal to program these channels into your radio to transmit on them with out a license, if you are not a public agency you are not going to be able to get coordinated onto a public safety channel, so if you use it they should come after you. There are a few channels designated for low power unlicensed use, you can not, rather you should not just pick out a channel and start using it. I do have so wide area licenses, but the cover Mojave south to the Mexico border, just because you do not hear use in a certain area does not mean or give you the right to use them.

 

Well hate to tell ya, but in Canada, there are plenty of frequencies used in the USA by public fire depts and police services. I gotta have at least 45 channels in my vhf. I hear police and fire depts ambulance services on the Canadian public trucker channels all the time.
