I need to get my mail situation under control. I'm looking at using a mail forwarding/scanning service, but the only ones I've found that seem reputable have the mail addresses in another state. So if I sign up, I would need to setup USPS mail forwarding from my home address to the out of state mail receiver. Within a year I would need to notify all businesses that send me mail of my new mailing address.
I'm wondering if that can cause any type of legal, tax, or drivers license complications, having a mailing address in a state other than the one where I live. Has anyone done this?

Why don't you get a PO Box where you live? Also use Estatements whenever you can.ZVar Thanks this.

I use mail forwarding when on some assignments all the time. I use a private post box all the time, when I'm going to be out of town for a couple of weeks I just go by and tell them the address I want it forwarded to.

I stay on the road months at a time. I'm planning on doing the forwarding, so that they can scan the envelopes and I can see if it needs to be looked at. I already have notified most to not send physical mail, but it still does come through.

You can rent a PO Box in any post office in the country, as long as they have one available. So if you live in Arizona and want a post office box in Ohio you can get one. You just need two forms of ID.
Same with a box at a UPS store . Just show ID.
I have both, but I prefer the UPS store because they are individually owned and give better service and will send me an email every time I get a piece of mail. The UPS store will also put your mail in a big envelope and send it to you wherever you are. -
Does UPS scan mail so that you can see it online?

Yeah, I was looking at them but found another one for less that looks good. Just wondering about potential legal issues using an out of state address.

No legal issues that my non-legal mind can see unless your intent is to deceive where your true residency is.

No deception lol. Trying to avoid issues, not create them.fishonron Thanks this.
