I will idle whenever I want, period. Do not care what ANYONE thinks. I think if anyone actually got fired for idling, it would make for a very good lawsuit, especially a class action lawsuit. I don't have a job right now, but I would never consider working for one of these scumbag companies that keeps you out for weeks at a time and treats you like an animal or worse. I will hold out till I find something decent.

OK, Folks with QualCom here IS how you Fix this issue.

    1. Get a box that fits over you QualCom dish(A old style womens hat box, round works great) Free to $5

    2. Cover said box with Mylar from a cheap space blanket(found in camping section of outdoor stores) $5 to $10

    3. Attach copper cable to inside/in between Mylar and box, make sure there is conductivity.

    4. Attach alligator clip to copper cable(for ground). Radio Shack $2 to $3.

You have just built a Faraday Cage. Simply place cage over QualCom antenna and any lowjack type device on your truck and ground.

Your company will NOT know where you are/send you messages or recieve messages from you. If your savvy, you can make one and drive with it on. :biggrin_25525:

This will likely make your company -----> :biggrin_25516:

First of all, there's atleast one abandoned truck stop where you can park all night at the fuel island. It's in Texas somewhere! I had a quallcom break one time, and trust me, its a PITA to be totally without it. I'd call the company, they'd be like "We sent you a message!"....LOL.

If they are anything like CRST, they will call you and ask why you don't have a signal. One time I parked under a fuel island for 10 minutes to eat (low traffic at the fuel island, so it wasnt rude)...they called me! OMG, why isnt your qualcom updating? omg!!!!

CFI, before it became Con-Way Truckload fired drivers for idling and other things like their fuel mileage wasn't high enough, etc.... and sure enough those terminated drivers sued, and won.:biggrin_255:

Yes and Idleaire was planning on making big expansions, including building idleaire only rest areas. Well when they filed bankruptcy that obviously put everything on hold.

Yeah, simply say : "I don't know what's wrong with your QualCom system".... "the darn thing seems to work only when it wants to.." Then state... "Perhaps it's the piece of crap Freightliner you have me in..." LOL!

Then, I'd suggest to the company... If you really MUST get a hold of me I'd suggest calling my cell phone and leaving a message.

The simplest thing to do here is get the dispatchers home number. Every time you are woke up. Return the favor. Call them at home and remind them not to be late for work.

And also call them at work and remind them to shut off the ac or heat in the office like they expect the drivers to do.:biggrin_2559:

That sounds like the old Winfield T/S on I-30...used to have great TexMex food there! I had heard it was going to be bought and renovated...

As far as the QC goes....I just turn mine face-down on the drivers seat. Can't hear a peep out of it. And I sometimes have to do this if I shut down in the late afternoon, as early evening seems to be the favorite time for our "Security Updates". :biggrin_25518:
