I was looking the HP and torque rating for dd13 and dd15. They're the same. So my question is what's the upside to getting one or the other.

Get dd13 you'll work it harder and will probably have less scr issues (hopefully)

    Legal loads I'd go 13.

15 lasts better, supposedly, 13 is lighter. More compact so the vehicle can be shorter and lighter.

Fuel milage, I don't really know, though the 15s were supposed to be better. Lease company buys whichever, and have been buying daycabs with 15s now, too. The trucks specced for bulk operations are DD13, with wide base single drive tires and disc brakes.

DD15 will have better resale value, also the engine won’t be so stressed all the time like the 13 liter. Emissions will be problems with both if you idle extensively with either.

    PE_T Thanks this.
