Too short and too far forward? Having to reach 100 times a day to put it in 3rd/7th gets old fast. A 6” extension with a 45 degree kick back and a round knob is super comfortable for me.lester Thanks this.

Nothing wrong with wanting something different. I just added a 6” extension and chrome ball knob to the KW I drive. I really like it. It’s comfortable and I shift more smoothly with this setup.

If u get a new gear shifter knob do u have to get a new sleeve and assembly for the gear shifter or can u use the stock one only ever used stock so idk abt that but been wanting to change it to a aftermarket? -
I guess it depends on the knob you choose. Many of them mate up just fine with the factory sleeve, but since mine was chrome I ponied up the $12 for the plastic “chrome” sleeve. The factory sleeve screw was too short to secure the new chrome sleeve, so I had to snag a little bag of stainless machine screws at Home Depot for like $1.50.
Also, if you go with a 6” extension, you probably have enough slack in the existing air lines to make it work. Any longer than that, you might need to get some extra line and some unions to join them. Either way it’s easy. I did mine at night in maybe 15-20 minutes.
Shut off the motor and drain all the air out of your tanks before disconnecting the air lines on the shifter. Easy peasy.
