obviously i wasn't trying to be "real."
The boss's decision seems kind of arbitrary. That was my point.

Your boss respects the military. Good.
Your boss doesn't respect you. Bad

Your boss just showed you how little he thinks of you. Now do you simply take it or find a new boss that appreciate the merits of your work. Remember he showed you that your work ethic doesn't matter to him. If he hires someone he likes a little better than you, well then you are SOL.
Good news is that if you practice really hard you may find just how he likes his ### ###### and you'll be ok. Or walk, your choice.

I sort of know how you feel I’m an owner operator have be3n with own authority for a little over 20 years I ran my truck on my days off fro my full time job was a police officer full time for 28 years. Now with all the protests and such I had a direct customer who I haul for and have for about 5 years. I was informed they will no longer load me the transportation lady told me she don’t like cops and will never load my truck again. Ok I got in touch with the parent company told them of this they said they will fix this. I asked if they had and problem with my service and they did not. I thanked them for their business and should the woman in question no longer work there I might return to hauling their freight. I won’t but I thought it sounded polite. Guess you just never know what people are really thinking.

you know, i agree and i can see if he was a leased operator with the company, and they took his truck..which of course, he is not a leased operator, so they did not take his truck.

again, i refer to some things that he has done as well in the past, that he spoke about, like hitting a UBER car, getting fired from a job for smoking weed.

in all my years, LIVING on this planet, i have seen, "men of character, and humbleness", and i have seen "men of no character and an all for me attitude"

pick one, as to what the o/p really is.

is his employer a UNION SHOP??????

i think not. most likely, he is working for a company that has "EMPLOYMENT AT WILL" status.

at least ( i do believe), in a union shop, he would have been spoken with first, regarding this move on the employer's part.

but if not, then he can grievance it.

    where is he now..???

so much for "humbleness and character".......on his part.

    but..."what if"

    "what if".....

    he goes someplace else.

and THAT employer also has a "give a job to a vet"..

    what then..???

    what then...??

there really is no escaping another situation like this

you (all company drivers) are just as vulnerable to the "what if" they hire a vet.......syndrome.

it's how you handle it, like a man of character........or a............

And even after a while, that vet will be become just as expendable. Once the luster of his service wears off, he's got some time with the company, that wont mean as much. I would also ask, what if someone gets hired that's better than the OP, or even the vet? That boss.ia going to do what is best for business, military or not. Plus, we dont know that he gave the vet that position because of his service.

i'm "banking on" something, or somethings, that he has been here telling us about, that he has done.

he might not be as dependable or professional, as he wants us to believe he is.

You're right, and the whole story definitely has not been told. Where there's smoke, there's fire..
