Has anyone here ever worked casual (part time) For Knight. I live near Charlotte and they have an ad in the Observer looking for Casual OTR drivers. I am retired and am thinking this could be a good part time job. Thanks, MRdcb

They claim it's casual, but they will want you do "just one more load, please". You may think you are just going to wherever and be back by Friday, but, surprise!, you're stuck in BFE for the weekend.
Beechvtail and mrdcb Thank this. -
Yep. you maybe ouy 4 days or 3 weeks.

My friend works for them as a casual driver. He is usually out for a week or week and a half then goes home for a few days. The pay is not the best but he says its kind of like a vacation for him, keeps him out of the office

Does knight offer cdl training? I live in NC and have been told good things about them.

I did it for a while in 2006 or so - out of Fontana - If I asked for one trip, that was what I got. 3-4 days out. Why did I quit?
-Not getting paid if I didn't enter Qualcomm info right - Call in to payroll, leave message w/ trip #, driver ID, date of trip, missing payment - NEVER a return call
-Last two "trips" - No truck available - "you can sleep in any truck in the yard; We will have a truck for you tomorrow" -
I don't know where you live...but check out Wels...they offer like a 10 or 12 out...6 off time of scheduale for those who want it...
Also I worked for knight long ago...and they had a 7 on 7 off type of scheduale...but I was so gung-ho back then that i never took the days off that were offered to me...I just kept rolling...oh how I have changed...
