Rhode Island considers name change due to slavery

Before this, what percentage of Americans even knew Rhode Island's full name?
When and where will the moral panic stop?

 

The past is the past. You can't change it and you can't erase it. Changing names and removing imagry will change nothing. I think the vast majority of us know slavery was wrong. Sweeping all that under the rug is just creating a massive elephant in the room.

and the thing is, the word plantations means, "settlement", not a plantation farm with slaves.

but because a few are butt hurt about the word plantations, the gubner, some mayors and a few others are removing the LONG state name

in the past, there was a vote to officially remove this LONG name, and it was turned down.

come November, i will make sure i do not approve of removing the name, as to me and many others here, it is erasing history from when Roger Williams settled here

Agreed. OVERLY PC. Plantation is not a "slave farm." There are still famous plantations one can tour.

Some of this stuff is hard to believe. I think people are losing their minds but some people are real. I heard the don't like Columbus Ohio. Some want to change it to Flavortown
