Seriously...you need to re-evaluate your reasons for taking this job.

$200 a week bring home with the hours you are putting in ???

I could survive on that, if needed. But I ain't gonna. And I can certianlly understand why you would be looking elsewhere.

At your current position in life, and this industry. JB Hunt looks VERY good to me.

Unemployment pays better.

 

Well Bent after reading this I can understand wanting to go back OTR or Regional. You could make better wages as a greeter at walmart. I would guess you could triple you income at one of the bad outfits you mentioned already so indeed you need to move on as fast as you can. Best of luck finding something else it's tough out there but keep your head up and try you'll find something. Anything would be better than your current situation, including drawing unemployment.

 

I agree with "dance", that is criminal. I work for "Labor Ready" (temp service for general laborers) and I make $50 to $60 a day after taxes there. You are getting "ky'd" without the courtesy of a reach around man.

 

It seems that the majority of companies find a way to punish good people for making choices that make or break our survival. I feel your pain bro. I was in the Navy for well over 6 years, worked for the S.C. Department of Corrections for 2ish after that. Went to school with Schneider in Charlotte and was with them for a total of 5 months, 3 of which were solo OTR. I have nothing on my MVR, I have no criminal history whatsoever.

My grandfather had a heart attack and I had to be home more so I finished up the cycle I was on, turned in my truck, and stayed with them til he was up and getting around good again. After that I got myself in college and am now 3 classes away from finishing up my business degree.

I too am looking to get back on the OTR side of life, I miss it and the freedom it offers. With so little experience not many will take me on and since I already have a CDL I don't qualify for most companies training programs or so I have been told repeatedly.

I am in South Ga looking for a team partner or an O/O that has some kind of local or regional, preferably OTR work. I have been accepted by Swift also but the closet they can schedule me for orientation is January and I will be out on the streets by then. Anyone have any work or suggestions?

Just letting the newish drivers and those looking to get back or start driving, I will be leaving this come Thursday for a 2 day orientation in Atlanta for Werner. I would prefer to still be with Schneider but anyone that has read my posts thus far knows the background story on that ordeal there.

I am happy to say that even though my 5 months at Schneider was back in the fall of 2007, Werner is giving me the opportunity to get back on the road where I belong. They are also giving me pay scale credit for every day of operating time I accumulated with Schneider as a solo as well as all of the training time so I am one of the fortunate few that won't have to lose any time by going through all that newbie #### that alot of drivers put you through.

As soon as I can, I will update on how things are going and give up to date analysis on how I am treated. For the past 2 years that I have been in college full time I have been able to get by on the $1300 and change that I have been receiving from in veteran's benefits so as long as I get close to that I should be very comfortable, as hard as I like to drive, I do not foresee that being an issue though.

Keep your heads up and keep putting in the applications and following up with them, this is the 5 time if 2 months I have checked up on the application and finally hit the "right place at the right time" scenario. Thanks for the well wishes and maybe I will see you guys out on the roads pretty soon. If our paths do cross, let's do coffee or lunch and hash out some good times. All about making new friends whenever possible.
