HOW IMPORTANT IS DOUBLES/TRIPLES? I JUST GOT MY CDL A COMBINATION BUT ONLY GOT MY TANKER. IT'S NOT REQUIRED BY MY CURRENT JOB BUT IIN THE FUTURE I WERE TO LEAVE IS IT RECOMMENDED TO HAVE IT? AND ALL I HAVE TO DO IS TAKE THAT PART OF THE WRITTEN TEST TO GET IT?

The doubles/triples test is about as easy as the tanker test. Might as well get it. It’s also a quick read. Now, the hazmat test is much longer and technical.

I hear many don’t read it and just take practice tests online. Apparently there is no limit to how many times you can take the test, except for once per day.

Yes it is only a written test to get it, and it’s pretty easy. I got the endorsement years ago just for the heck of it. I don’t need it or use it. But, I guess it doesn’t hurt to have more career possibilities.

Just get em' all up front. Easy peasy stuff. I didn't get passenger or school bus. That requires a Bus not a tractor trailer. Plus.......I wouldn't want to drive a school bus for all of the tea in China. Bless the drivers that put up with all of those unruly brats daily. Takes a special person. I guess I'm not nearly that special. Again, yes, get them all including hazmat. Nothing that difficult about any of them. Good luck!

Better to have em and not need em than to need em and not have them. Much less hassle to get em now than to try to get em later down the road. Hazmat is the hardest because it’s the most technical, shipping papers is the most confusing but I was told to think ISHP (Id number Shipping name Hazard class Packing group. Tanker is more about wording of the questions, you still need tanker if pulling a van, with liquid containers over a certain amount of gallons . Triples and doubleS is more about the air supply and hooking up the dollys and position of the trailers if weighted differently.

I wouldn't get hazmat unless you think you really need it. You will need an FBI background check and it will cost you $100. Then every 5 years you gotta do it all over again. And then if you run loads with hazmat and you have plackards most scale houses require you to pull in even if you got a green light, and once your in there your chances of getting pulled around back go way up. Yeah, I used to have hazmat!

doubles, triples, tankers, are written tests.

    hazmat testing is written, finger-printing.

i strongly suggest that you get all you can get NOW, before any spikes in price hikes to cover ALL the states that have LOST MILLIONS since the corona virus struck us.

once you get the double, triples, tankers endorsements, you have them for LIFE

the hazmat, you MUST take a written test and finger -printing at YOUR STATE's time frame either at CDL renewal time, or every x number of years.

you are MORE employable with as many endorsements pertaining to TRUCKING.....

The hazmat helps. In the sense that a recruiter knows you passed a background check.
