Google up Ford Truck Enthusiast. This site will tell you every thing you want to know about the 6.0. This motor can be bullet proofed. The new emissions control on all makes of diesel engines is killing them. The main culprit with the 6.0 powerstroke is the left over casting sand that clogs the coolant passages in the oil cooler. The coolant exits the oil cooler and goes to the e.g.r cooler. When the oil cooler plugs up, the e.g.r. cooler is starved of coolant which makes what little bit of coolant getting to the e.g.r. cooler to flash boil melting the solder joints inside the e.g.r.cooler and allowing coolant into the intake. This causes the degas bottle to start puking and eventually blows the head gaskets or worse HYDRO LOCK !! A coolant filter should be installed and an upgraded oil and e.g.r. cooler. There are many high mileage 6.0s out there. You need real gauges to monitor oil temps and coolant temps. A temp spread greater than 15 degrees between the 2 will be your first warning sign of the oil cooler plugging up.

    Very concerned.......

Ford 6.0's are junk especially the early years. The 06's were a little better.

stick with either a 5.9 or 6.7L Cummins with emissions deleted.
