That’s a cope.
The moneyed elite control the justice system and they will get their driverless trucks. They will be legally protected.

So they've been able to achieve in 4 years with a few million bucks what Tesla has been unable to achieve in 17 years with an unlimited budget? I'll believe it when I see it.

A driverless truck will be able to get very close to the cost per mile of a train that why railroads will go extinct.
-
When they have driverless cars I will believe it is possible to have driverless trucks.

Why would you think that? Road vehicles run rubber to pavement which has lots of friction, while trains run steel to steel which is almost zero friction. Trains also have aerodynamic advantage because they're always "drafting".Opendeckin Thanks this.

I gave up on getting a trucking job for the time being. I’m back doing home repairs and improvements and have way more work than I can handle, but I still may do it just as a bucket list item while I still can.
Even with self-driving trucks, I think there will still be plenty of trucking jobs. Computers will do the long interstate hauls, but a human will have to do the difficult city driving. Those drivers will be the cream of the crop, and the rest will be culled.
They all can go into the handyman business. I’ve spent a considerable amount of time fixing other people’s jack carpentry, so nothing will change on my end.

LOL! A ride in a S. Korean taxi was a bigger “thrill” than flying at 80’ AGL doing Mach .86 down a Philippine river looking up at the ridge lines.
Scared the crap out of me several times...the taxi driver, not my pilot.
TokyoJoe and CousinVinny Thank this.
