My company trains for the test. When I was with a trainer for the 7-10 days you get one, we ran team loads and she was asleep most of the time. There is a lot more to the story but I barely had any time actually backing supervised. My company is pushing out students so if I had 3 months with a trainer, I would have this. I can hit top times in my fleet but my company tells us not to back if we don’t have to. It’s a big one. And they tell trainers that the trainers don’t have to let you back because “we proved we can by getting our CDLs”.

I get no time actually backing and had very little training. I passed my CDL. My real question, given that I take forever, if I did this job topless would people be less mean about it? They were soo much nicer about how long it took me to wash my windows when I was wearing short shorts....
3031 Thanks this. -
It couldn't hurt. They'd be GOALing you for sure. lolBean Jr. Thanks this.

Pic of you in shorts or it didn’t happen
Kyle G., Bean Jr., Selva and 1 other person Thank this. -
I never finished it

Which is kind of a shame, since I spend half my time hostling now and am a better backer than ever.
The problem is that backing is just kind of hard to explain.
Do you drive for Schneider? I've seen a woman driver matching that description around our depot a few times...Last edited: Jul 4, 2020

I definitely attempted to back then pulled head first into a spot after nearly hitting another truck. Background, there was a dust blowing. In the last hour my air pressure dropped and my spring brakes nearly deployed during a storm. My teammate wouldn’t get out of bed so I could get cones to check my glad hands. I had passed 3 trucks that tipped just from the wind in the last hour. My left trailer brakes Started dragging on my way to the truck stop. And all I could remember related to trucking while attempting to back was “I clearly did not apply Enough deodorant to mitigate the situation.” I was just done. The point being, treat yourself and the people around you with enough compassion to be able to survive this job. Also, never wear underwire in a crisis. The latter is much much better advise.

Nope. CRE. Try taking pictures and adding flash cards so people can recognize how to correct in certain situations3031 Thanks this.
