Hello. Been lurking for over 600 pages so figured it was time to actually post something. Ya'll seem like a great group of guys/gals. I'm scheduled to start with the Oct 5th Class.

I am slightly concerned with the attrition rate though. I should be fine in most areas ( 7 year MVR is immaculate (states: No driver History), worked for my last employer for 13 years, no criminal background whatsoever and 100% drug free).

I guess my question would be, what "other" things are folks being sent home for? I really want and need for this career change to work out. I appreciate any input.

Thanks in advance and nice to meet ya'll.

Welcome to our lil part of the Forum!!

Most of the ones sent home have things they didn't disclose on the App and high blood pressure!

Thanks for the welcome and reassurance Jess! ( I should be fine on both accounts).

wow, that's the end of the old time Simon drivers in the thread then. That also means, unless I'm mistaken, that no one in the thread has been with Central longer than 2.5 years, since last kid was the only person who'd been here longer than I had. Scary thought.

Our pretty red truck is still in teh shop, they shipped the ECM off the Cummins to be updated, teh software was out of date and that "might fix it." We won't know til tomorrow, provided Cummins even did the ECM today. I've worked with thar Cummins shop too, so I doubt it.

Like Jess said, anything undisclosed, high blood pressure (nearly got my co-drv not hired at orientation), anything you'd fail the physical for, like being diabetic. people who absolutely cannot drive will get let go. Keep in mind some of these people are also quitting. I have no idea what the percentage is, but there has to be some.

No I'm working around the problem to get my forum fix. ;)

I can use my spacebar to scroll down In sections then I have to finess my way around only being able to scroll with the ball up, left, and right.

Hope we go to his house. He doesn't live far from me and my new phone is on its way.

I think a lot of people don't understand what this job is before they dive in. We are the fortunate few that have you fine folks to educate and encourage us. I for one appreciate it. =)

    Eh,

Your right.. Most classes before mine lost people for simle stuff like liein on the app or smokin that funny stuff on the day of the drug test.

Most likely your trainer will be okay.. Mine did a lot for me.. But left me in the cold on. Backing.. So I had to figure it out myself when I got out here.. Its for the best tho. I learn better doing it myself.

When ya do take your cdl permit test.. Make sure to study both the hand outs and the book.. You'll pass er with dyin color..heh.

Looks like 1bad will be leaving the Kraft fleet. As of Nov 5 they are requiring all dedicated drivers to have a laptop and printer. Kraft is downsizing and the only way to your bol's will be online. But Central is not paying anyone back for getting these itmes. That means roughly $800 for a laptop, $400 for a portable printer, $300 for a power inverter to work these things and $60plus a month for an air card. That is just not doable for us. They cut their pay and want them to come out of pocket this much. They must be smoking crack rock again!!!!!!! 1bad's dispatcher is on vacation this week so he won't find out till next week if he leaves Kraft if he can go back to being a regular OTR company driver or if he will lose his job all together. Just when things start looking up something has to happen. He finally got decent miles on his check this week and looking at good ones for next week even being home 2 days. And now may lose it all. Something has got to give and soon or I'm gonna lose it completely!!!
