I'm still tied up with some things that arose once I got put on med hold the first time. I knew we had a move in our future (home wise), and originally I was oging to put it off until I was done with training and had been solo awhile. When I got put on med hold last month, we decided to accelerate our move, so I'm doing that now. If I reapply with Stevens, I'm probably looking more like middle October. I'm actually elegible to restart on Oct 5th (once I reapply), as I've satisfied all the medical hold requirements, but now I'm in the middle of a move. If I reapply with them, and that is not a certainty, I wouldn't start until at least Oct. 12th or 19th. I have approval with more that one company now, so I'm weighing the differences. Nobody is that much better than another, just different options.

Personally, I will not haul anything that could blow up and kill me.

But for company policy. They say you "must" get it. However, there isnt enough hazmat freight for them to worry. If you get it you get it. If you dont you dont.

Well guys here the update. Today went pretty well, we practiced 45 degree backings. Then later on we did offset backings and surpenteen with the red shirts lol. Was a blast. Those guys are cool as hell. One more long day tomm and one more day friday then im shippn out with my trainer. I signed the paper today to go out with an alliance trainier. Figured id get more miles in faster and the trucks are nicer. Cant wait. I hope i get to fly out to my trainer.

    Stevens does not haul explosives.

Most of the hazmat loads that stevens pulls and would like to pull more of involve household chemicals, bleach, cleaning agents, things you buy off the shelf in wal mart, or your local grocery store.

Other hazmat I have hauled, Spray paint cans, considered dangerous, as they may explode under the extreme right conditions, plastic pellets used in injection molds, that must be refrigerated.

Plus I get paid practical route miles, for the hazmat load, instead of House Hold movers guide miles.

having the hazmat endorsement has gotten me loads out of bad freight areas many times.
