OK...I hate to do this...I've been reading this thread for 3 months or more...but...I've seen about enough. Rob, in all honesty....you're just playing. You don't know what you're doing and you're not handling any of your business. It would seem you have worse luck than the average person...but...if you don't handle your business you're essentially creating your own bad luck. When your tranny went out...your first concern should have been getting that trailer to it's destination. You have a responsibility to your customer and your broker. Instead you buggered off..left it...and it was like some great suprise it was impounded when you finally checked on it 3 days later. I'm sure your broker has just about had it with you as a result too. It seems you never run legal insurance wise...don't keep your HOS books up todate...drive around overloaded or not properly loaded..etc...etc...etc. I can understand having to cut a corner here and there...but it is patern behavior here..a pattern behavior of laziness. You don't even do things that you can do that don't cost anything or even take much effort like the HOS logs...and get fined for that. This lacsidasical attitude to stuff like that makes me think all the damage to the truck comes from you not getting out and looking when you should be..etc etc. I'm really surprised everyone is giving you props and urging you to keep going and even offering to take up a collection to help you pay for your mistakes?!?! If you did things legally and were on top of maintenence from the start...you would either A. Not be having tranny problems right now or B. Have had the money to get the tranny fixed at the pete shop there due to not having had to pay fines etc or C. Both and be sitting pretty. So..in short..I don't feel sorry for you...You've gotten yourself into this mess by playing trucker instead of being one.

Hey buddy you have no right to talk to hippo like that. First of all he's got balls for doing what he's doing. And another hes a trucker he's got six months under his belt even tho they weren't the best he had good and bad days. This is trucking things go good then things go bad. So yea even tho he has his ups and downs he's still keeping his chin up.
Gears Thanks this. -

I've thought about a lot of those things you mentioned, a lot of it is true.
I'm not lazy, but I have given some things less consideration. In fairness you are summarizing 6 months of growth as if it has all occurred simultaneously or ongoing. Much of that was a learning experience that has been rectified. Some of it I'm not sure what you're talking about at all, insurance wise etc. I have been legal since the start, and have gotten some tickets that had to be paid, but I've stayed on top of them with no points.
I should have fixed that motor mount as soon as I knew, I will kick myself for that. I didn't hurt that tranny with anything I did.
Many of the things you said did happen, but do not continue to happen. I don't ask for anyone's pity and haven't asked for money. We do help each other out though as I have helped others, I'm not too proud to accept some back too.dino6960, scooter823 and The Challenger Thank this. -

Anyway, I do appreciate all the support in the past. Sorry I pushed you to your breaking point... lord knows I'm about at mine. Something has to and will give. -
Fact is, you are learning, you have admitted your mistakes, you are now willing to get dirty and greasy and bust some knuckles to service things yourself.
I think you've come a long way. Considering it takes some company drivers at least a year to learn these things, you've done pretty well. Just keep learning, keep the ducks in a row, keep up with PM, and keep turning wrenches whenever you have a spare moment.
You'll be just fine.dino6960 Thanks this.
