Oh ok yea that’s exactly what it is just a little different considering mines a cat, ok so it’s just for a heater so it’s optional? And it’s ok it doesn’t have the female plug in at all times correct? Nothing’s gonna leak out if it’s not blocked right is what I’m asking

Not gonna hurt to run it like that. You just won’t have the option to pre heat the block coolant in the winter. If it’s not leaking just sitting there it won’t leak running it. It’s either not in use because over time the cords over heat and melt so they get removed or someone “borrowed” it for another engine or the element burnt out.

Ok I understand, I’m up north so winters get rough I’ll order the plug see if it’s still able to warm it up otherwise it’s not leaking so I’ll just leave it, it’s a project it’ll be sitting for about a year before it’s making me any kinda money right now it’s just taking whatever I got lol

mabe sumthin to look into in the future is a artic fox fuel heater, my b model would gel very easily in cold cold weather due to these engines return very little to the tanks to heat, installed a artic fox fuel heater in frame ran coolent lines to it never a problem since i even got brave enuff to quit carrying spare fuel filters lol

Depends on your definition of "north" but I lived in areas where it routinely hits 35 below. No fancy fuel heaters, add ons or fuel additives are really neccessary if you run the proper winter fuel. Still doesn't hurt to carry spare filters and emergency fuel treatment just in case.

Only problem is that block heater alone would be unlikely to get you running even if plugged in overnight in those temps.

I’m in NY and this is my second truck I had a N14 prior to this and trust me everyone’s got starting issues here no matter what engine it is lol but what exactly do you mean by proper winter fuel? I just run regular diesel am I missing something?
