There are people at CC who are there simply because they choose to be.
I know of one who is retired army and he's been there 6 years.
Dont you think he could go someplace else if money was his only value in life?
No other company will let you work as little or as much as you like.
Its a good thing to be able to go back to work when you willing to and not being forced because you have a ball and chain parked in your yard telling you its time to go. And in time most companies will hire a felon regardless of the charge but that driver better have a track record to boast about.

let me tell you this about cc having worked for them in the past. The company is a good one. But once you add in that you are surrounded by excons, the owner's brother has no clue what he is doing and this is the guy you have to report to when the truck breaks down, you drive if you are lucky a half brokedown POS that no one knows how to clean up and if you don't have a running partner then you get thrown in with any JO they can stick with you. Usually one who couldn't drive more then 5 hours strait without stopping for a nap. Jim Crowder is one heck of a business man, he has figured out just how to give it to a truck driver in the front and the back all in one stroke. Jim givith 10 cents a mile and takith 9 cents back ya.
kickin chicken Thanks this. -
Years ago CC was a great place to work.. Never paid worth a hoot but we sure had fun at Carolina Cargo. Wouldnt drive for them now to save my life.
Beechvtail and kickin chicken Thank this. -
WOW!! I know this is an older thread better left dead, I just couldn't believe what I read. I was thinking about working for that place a year ago because they go west, sure am glad I didn't. After reading 19 pages and ever post I find these things to be true, was echoed by too many people who worked there
* pay 20 cents per mile/team split
* bad equipment
* student mill, a bad one at that
* hire felons, I think is the best thing they do, everyone needs 2nd chance
* bankrupt or heading there fast
* team only, most teams make .38 to .42 a mile
* illegally fines drivers for service calls, that needs to be reported to SC labor boardkickin chicken and Beechvtail Thank this. -
wow three weeks and your a trainer what a deal
-
LOL!!! My 'trainer' was with my current employer for only three months and his qualification was being 'gay'! He lasted 6 months. He had no business training anyone and wasn't even qualified to go into Canada - a requisite for employment with my company.
