Been looking at a few New trucks. Just curious and drooling, killing some time.
I have to admit the styling and quality for the interiors has come a long way from the last time I rode in a truck. That new IH Lone Star on the inside, looks like some of the Corporate Jets I have worked on in the past.
BUT here is the problem I seen!!
You pay $150,000 for a truck like that and get all that plush interior and they give you a RADIO that looks cheaper than something you would be able to get at Wal-Mart. Looks like WalMart would even be an Upgrade??
I thought to myself? How are you going to let me spec out a truck and spend $150k and NOT give me a Radio option?? On top of that put that cheap looking POS in there???
I'd prefer they just leave it out and let me put what I want and where I want it.
I was really surprised at the Limited amount of otpions for interior creature features.
I would be just as much concerned about the Interior Features as the Engine, Trans, & Rear-gears.
That's going to be my office 11-14 hrs/ day and my Home the other 13-10 I want it to be MINE. Especilly at those prices.
END of useless RANT!!!![]()

Wait until you hit the sprayers on the windshield wipers or turn the cruise on. You wanna see crappy engineering, just wait.
-
OK? LOL!!
That is outdated!! Even 4-wheelers got away from that for the same reason.
That's why you have a separate wiper control on the opposite side. -
I know exactly what you mean. I've noticed this on a smaller level when it comes to new cars. A person will spend $16,000-$30,000 and they can't even get a $100 radio. Instead, they're given some cheap-o CD player with a monochrome LCD display.
Moving on up to more expensive machinery is worse. Uhm... Hello? Truckers can't do much while driving. Listening to music and / or the radio is certainly an investment they should take into consideration.
:/GAPrincess and The Challenger Thank this. -
My 2009 Challenger has options that would be more practical and Used more in a Truck than in a car.

Hell, my 72 cadillac does too. Like why does my climate control only have two settings, freeze and cook? The auto temp control on my caddy still works fine and it's 37 years old! Why the heck can't I get that on a brand new truck?dancnoone Thanks this.

Ain't that the truth.
All this modern tech that goes into the new trucks. And they can't figure out HOW to put a %$#*bleep*$#*bleep*! decent temp controller on the thing. -
That was another 1 I was thinking about as well.
You want to keep a driver mind on the road. Then keep it off the Heat/A/C controls.
Climate Control: Set it and forget it.
Heck my room here in the middle of war-zone Iraq has that!!!!! -
Oh my truck is much better than that, it has freeze, roast and broil.kajidono, The Challenger and GAPrincess Thank this.

Well my '07 780 has a temperature control that is actually a thermostat, not a slide control like a 1930 car. That's the good news, but the reality in just over 3 years of running I am now on my 3rd heater core! That used to be an item that lasted 20 years, but is now made out of such thin lightweight aluminum that it will only last long enuff to not be in warranty when it fails!
But I agree on the radio options. Sure wish mine had an aux. input plug for MP3 or Sat radio to connect.
