That would only be coincidental, if indeed true. It would only be ironic if the police officer referred to himself in the same way the OP referred to him which, I'm sure, he doesn't. The officer most likely would be offended which should be reason enough not to use such "descriptions".

Here's a suggestion: Next time you are crossing a reservation walk up to an officer and call him a "bear with feathers" and note his or her reaction. Then come back here and let us all know how much he laughed.

I'm mostly of European descent. I've been called a Nazi, cracker, whitey, white boy etc. I don't take it to heart. If everybody lightened up a little and didn't get their panties wadded up over every little thing, this planet would be much more enjoyable to be on.

It shouldn't take long before I cross a reservation seeing as how I live on one! Lol!!! I drive by signs with tribal insignia daily. Guess what's on those signs... feathers! I think the natives are proud of their heritage and proud to be descendants of some of the strongest and bravest people to walk this land long before white people arrived. Tribes don't name their gymnasiums, health centers, youth outreach centers, casinos and countless other establishments after elk, bear, feathers, eagles etc. because it's racist. They see the feather, bear, eagle or elk as something to be proud of. But I don't know what I'm talking about, I'm a racist.
