I gotta give props to anyone that can run teams... There is only one person on this planet I would trust enough to drive a truck while I was asleep in the sleeper, and thats my dad.
Trucking_Surfer and farmerjohn64 Thank this. -
Flatbed freight is mostly banker’s hours when it comes to pick up and delivery. I wouldn’t think there’d be much in the way of team freight with a flag unless you got into some time sensitive type stuff. But I could be wrong. Teaming is worth a shot if it’s something you want to try, but I think you’d have better luck staying moving with a box. And if it works out you could look in to Old Dominion or similar LTL company and pull in some decent money as a team.

Yeah I thought about that this morning, how it wouldn’t make any sense for one of you to drive for let’s say an hour and then you have to wait several hours for the place to open so that you can unload or pick up

If you are teaming that's not a problem. You just start your clock, drive there, do the unload, then drive the rest of your clock if you get another load, when you're partner takes over and keeps driving and keeps the truck moving. The bigger headache is being solo because you drive there, do the unload and watch your time count down. Then you drive whatever is left and then just park again for 10 hours. Teams drivers have less to complain about there.Jenn72, farmerjohn64, Chinatown and 1 other person Thank this.

Team driving sucks in my opinion. Did it my first year. Never again

The bigger question is , can you sleep in a moving Truck? Not easy getting bounced around. For me it's a no

I think it would be very difficult to get along with someone 24 hours per day. Heck, I can not go 4 hours without getting into some kind of argument with myself.

Most F/B loads load and unload during daylight hours, so teaming means waiting to do so.

Farmer John, If you work on your time management and trip planning skills, (they both take time and effort) you can make 60-70 grand a year solo. Don't necessarily buy into the " Team Drivers make big bucks" trap. Yes, some do, many don't. I would not sacrifice my privacy and freedom as a solo driver for and extra 8-10 K annually. (Potentially!). Good luck on whichever path you choose

It would never be worth it to me.
No paycheck is worth smelling another driver’s farts.farmerjohn64 Thanks this.
