It's pretty slow. Done about 800 miles for the week so far as system driver. Great thing about Superior is the layover pay. Even if you don't get miles as a system driver, your check is still fat
-
Do they hire from Kansas City?
-
Tell me about it. I dropped off a relay to a driver in Memphis that had been sitting there since Wednesday. She said she sat for 2 days before the load that brought her into Memphis too. I even had to sit for a day in Cincinnati this week, and that's one of our busier terminals. The only reason I was able to break 2k miles this week was because of the length of the run
-
Yup currently sitting for 44 hrs. Got a load this afternoon that delivers Monday. I wish I had a car at each terminal so I can go explore the city.
-
I don't think they do. Call and check with a recruiter
-
Sent the recruiter an email and he said to contact him again once my cdl shows the hazmat endorsement. I was surprised he didn't flat out rejected me because i'm a recent grad.
-
I got hired as a new CDL grad back in January. Went through the in-house training program and got released on my own at the end of March. As a policy Superior hires new driver grads from their list of approved schools and you'll spend 8-10 weeks as a driver trainee before being released on your own. You'll need to contact them to see if your school is on the approved list. Your license will need to show the tanker + hazmat "X" endorsement before you get hired. You'll also need to get your TWIC and passport before being hired. The hazmat and TWIC require DHS background check but depending on the state you live in you may be able to submit one check for both.
It's also a good idea to reach out directly to the terminal manager of the terminal you'll want to be working from and have a conversation about what you're looking for and if that particular terminal is hiring. Unfortunately things are kinda slow right now but it's a good idea to at least get your application in front of the terminal manager so they can keep you in mind once things pick back up.
