Saw this on Youtube yesterday. Accident in Virginia with 2 fatalities. Day cab broke down and stopped in the hammer lane like an idiot. If your truck stalls, you have time to coast to the right and get as far off the road as possible. There just isn't any excuse for stopping in the fast lane.
Looks like the first truck not paying attention was an Amazon hauler and he killed somebody in a passenger car.

It's no mystery why these insurance underwriters are jacking up the premiums or refusing to service a large swath of this industry.
tommymonza, SteveScott and Dale thompson Thank this. -
A friend of mine from Long Island was helping one of his daughters to move to TN and told me he went past that wreck in the opposite direction right after it happened. He said that a huge rain deluge had just passed through the area.tommymonza, SteveScott and Dale thompson Thank this.

Same in montana too. I90 east of butte. Big mountain range . Speed limit going down is 25. Think im the only one that actually does the speed limit going down that hill. Usually them megas pass me and i pass them right back at the bottom of the hill. Since they cant actually do the speed limit on the interstateTruckermania, tommymonza and Scooter Jones Thank this.

Wow
A whole Lot of tunnel vision and following too Close there.
Daycab too stupid to get over right at the first sign of troubles
Always scares me running those areas like 39 through Wisconsin and there is no shoulder because of construction and the trucks are just Barreling through there.
The thought of me or a truck in front of me breaking down all I could envision was a 20 truck pileup.Last edited: Aug 7, 2020

Saw another with my own eyes as it happened today.
205 SB about 5 miles north of Vancouver. Dude in an older red FL pulling a step deck loaded with various construction products.
Went by me in a hurry. I kept my eye on him. Weaving in and out of the fast lane as so many of these drivers do.
While in the fast lane, of which he really had no business being in, it was 3 lanes wide right there, he makes his move to get into the middle lane, but he doesn't see the guy in the sedan passing him on the right.
When he realized it, he jerked his wheel towards the left and it was too late, the tail end of trailer fish-tailed into the sedan's lane and smashed up the side of the car.
Fortunately, he didn't lose control or it could of been a real mess.Dale thompson, tommymonza and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
When I read your post here and the one about the I-81 wreck it just pisses me off.
Two situations where impatience either caused or almost caused a tragedy.
I read these forums and talk to drivers in person and overwhelmingly drivers are b*tching about 4 wheelers.
In the course of my day I find myself shaking my head at other truck drivers 10 to 1 over what the cars are doing.
Most of the unsafe stuff the cars are doing I attribute that to being uneducated on the subject, unlike truck drivers that are supposedly trained.
BTW, I read an article today about the I-81 crash and it said "chargers are pending", to who, I have no idea. -
$7.15 mile on 450 miles, finals in Socal. In case anyone was wondering exactly what would stupid amount constitute.
86scotty, D.Tibbitt, Dale thompson and 1 other person Thank this. -
Absolutely a stupid rate, but it gives you an idea of how much somebody is losing if the load doesn't arrive on time. I had an offer from a Christmas tree lot in my area in late 2018 right after I bought my new truck and trailer. He offered me around $9 per mile to go to Oregon, pick up a load of trees in my new and clean reefer, and deliver them to 4 of his tree lots. I reluctantly declined. I didn't want to mess up my new trailer with pine pitch. Plus it was raining like crazy in Oregon that week, and I know that the trees and the grower's facility would have been a muddy mess.D.Tibbitt, Dale thompson and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.

I have not been out west (yet), but I have seen you post these things frequently as of late. Is it tough driving in the PNW, or are people just driving carelessly/aggressively?D.Tibbitt Thanks this.
