Bud? ####... I was hoping for Bub or a Bubba... Maybe Buddha... That's it... You went to call me Buddha & mistakenly posted before you could hit all the buttons! I am your god & you must kneel before me!!!!!

Who told you that trucks have 10 brakes?

My truck only has 9 brakes. I really should get the tenth one fixed... But I want to drive around a little bit longer just to see if it really is all righteous to feel like a Swift driver.

1 set per axle. So the answer to that question would be 5 sets of brakes.

Here ya go! And don't confuse the boys. They don't know what O/O stands for yet! So I'm going to School them & Say O/O stands for OBAMA OPPOSER....

It is about making the turn safely and sometimes you run the curb over. Sometimes the fourwheeler does not move and the time you spent waiting is for not- because the next fourwheeler isnt going to move either. I have pinched curbs when there was no other choice. Sometimes you cannot swing wide to chase the turn back in. Every driver is making decisions based on what he sees and what his personal experiances bring. Rookies do turns jerkly (from inexperiance), others seem like they are going too fast either for experiance or over confidence and then there are some drivers are only there to drive and care not for their company's equipment or the public (lazy).

I think you are missing the point. It doesnt matter if you can do all of that- To the Experanced Drivers it seems like Argonance from a New Driver (and you still are). It doesnt matter if you can back a trailer with no pull ups or twenty...Did you put it in there safely and without hitting another guy's truck or trailer?

The youngster will find out what's up when he gets out in the "real world" and screws up...And he will screw up!

Youngster, You have a bad case of KNOWITALLITIS and you'd best get over it before you get out here and learn a little about humility!

So you can back up to a dock in a terminal...So what? I'll see you at the T/A in Gary Indiana with a 53' trailer and a 70" condo and you'll lose the attitude or better yet a 53' trailer and a W900L like mine with a 275" wheel base.

A chimp can back up to a dock in a terminal!

CRST "old hands" who are 50 years old aren't necessarily "old hands" They are more than likely 50 year old rookies that don't know much about trucking. (Or they'd probably have a job at a good company by now)

Do yourself a favor...Stop asking condecending questions about things you have no experience with and lose the attitude and maybe...Just maybe, You'll make it in this industry without becoming just another idiot steering wheel holder company loser that thinks he knows it all but is laughed at and scorned by those of us that know we don't know it all and never will!

im not being condesending im being confident, its not a hard turn to make and drivers are to #### lazy to make it the right way thats all there is to it

theres a concrete median so its not traffic that is holding them up, and theres a church on the corner and a bus stop people always out there

I was confident once. Then I rolled a truck... Still don't know how I rolled it, but never thought I would because at that time I was gods gift to trucking. I'm no longer confident or gods gift to trucking... I am now gods gift to women!!!!

I don't usually get into these things but I've been reading through this & just can't help but laugh at all the posts. :biggrin_2559:

Just like Redd I enjoy busting balls just as much as the next guy & sometimes I'm the one getting mine busted - deservedly.

I was a yard jockey before I first started driving & I work the yard sometimes at my current job. While I guess I agree in some respect that in theory backing up is the same...it is very different depending on what truck you are driving.

A yard truck turns much quicker/sharper & requires less room to maneuver.

A daycab or sleeper (depending on the model) will also turn differently. Neither of them will turn as sharp as the yard truck.

I always look and feel like a rookie when I work the yard after driving a daycab or sleeper for awhile. It takes a few trys to get use to the yard truck again & vice versa if I work the yard and then go back to a regular truck. We have a very tight yard & it's a pain even in a daycab. We have had so many drivers, both ours and common carriers, tear their bumpers, mudflaps, etc up backing up on our yard.

I suppose if you can back one truck you should be able to back any truck but I must admit I hate having to back a big pete with side stacks. I'd much rather have a FL or Volvo (lol)!

Anyway, just wanted to have a little "fun" so don't take this to seriously! :biggrin_25525:
