Why do truckers pass weigh station when open?

They have a Prepass - a little box that fits on the windshield. Those sensors things that stick out over the road activate the prepass - green light, keep on truckin - red light pull er in.

 

i got pull into nc today. on the scale with red light. officer asked me if i had hazmat. i said no. he said ok thank you. i drove off the scale still red. lol. i was looking behind for like 5 miles. really didnt mean to. i thought i was cleared.

 

Another service that lets drivers bypass the weigh station is called Drivewize. It works with your cell phone and operates at a further distance than pre pass.

 

Are we all sure they have prepass or anything like it?

 

Sometimes I’ll pass just to get a good chase going. Mixes things up a little bit for the day.

 

Wonder why he asked you if you had Hazmat. If you don’t have placards then you don’t have Hazmat.
