I am probably the worst recruiter there is.
The only thing I absolutely guarantee drivers is that they'll have it shoved up their ### on occasion through no fault of their own.
Now I'm at Landstar, so those are some big hurdles to clear to qualify. Most don't get out of the starting gate.
I typically can tell in the first 3 sentences, written or oral, if the person will make it.
I've had an empty truck for almost a year. By empty I mean unseated ( plated, elog ), it's ready.
I'd not purchase a truck unless you are getting a great value on it, without a driver ready.

1% at most.
I have people calling looking for work, I stopped hiring because I have too many trucks doing crap work just to keep the drivers.
A lot of people won't work because of the unknown future, when there is talk about the flu causing another shutdown, what the use of working somewhere they know they will face another layoff.born&raisedintheusa, Numb and truckdriver31 Thank this. -

I know it’s a crap shoot but, sometimes hiring a young driver with only a couple months experience or even fresh out of school can sometimes pay off.
As long as you can explain to them your policies and expectations and be totally honest with them, they can work out.
And yes, first impressions are important. If he/she shows up looking like they slept in a garbage dumpster, there maybe issues.Brettj3876, truckdriver31 and warrior12345 Thank this. -

I'm not sure, but I think that some insurance underwriters will not allow for new drivers with only only a couple of mos experience to drive under their policy.
