add a dollar to it and I’ll still leave the truck in the yard with buckets on the stacks, I can be broke sitting at home, no reason to work for it and run a truck for expenses

I believe that as a O/O you would need $176,250 minimum to obtain truck payments, expense reserve for any issues & self payment of $1135/weekly is going to Lead to many problems when real issue occur like breakdowns, blown tires etc.. things happen all the time in truck so the 1/3 factor for the truck, reserve & you has to be implemented. Occurring to that it would only leave you with $816.66 per week. Shortfall of $318.33 weekly on you, the truck and reserve fund. When something goes wrong problems snowball. Plus you're beginning to run that truck harder @ 560 miles daily so if its brand new it starts to get older quicker and if its older its going to be near dead & cost you a lot sooner than later. IMHO the minimum should be $1.22 per mile for O/O for a Reasonable living, not over worked and maintaining a new truck for the long road.

Man your short selling yourself. That's the equivalent of company driver pay or less. You can't plan 52 weeks out of the year either. More like 44-46 to account for breakdowns and family emergencies.

If your dead set on going O/O go to a place like Landstar, Mercer, even Schneider. You can find threads with tons of info on those 3 i listed

True. I just based it on the maximum one could work in dire straits. I'm currently a company driver 6 weeks vacation, unionized etc. Earning $1200 net ($1570 weekly gross). I'm still debating after a couple years now whether or not to become a O/O again because my wife wants to move from the city to the suburbs. I'm NOT going to expect anything less than that amount so I'm factoring everything from O/O mileage payment to load percentage payment 65% - 70% etc... I use to be a O/O back in 2000's for a little less than a year but problems occurred and sold the truck.

I’d rather deadhead than give some douche the satisfaction of pushing an 87 cent per mile load through.

Being an O/O with all the overhead your cost is already at $1 per mile so your already in the hole going out. $1.87 would give you just .87 worth of living wage and there are companies paying .60 cpm to drive for them. I think I'd find something else to do
