If your motor is red check out rawze.com there’s a wealth of endless knowledge on his site. Think of it as an investment. I.E. buying tires put the pencil to paper and do the math on a 550$ tire vs 200$ tire. Compare mpg, total miles, longevity, other repairs because you bought cheap tire, and figure the cost per mile to run your truck. A one mpg increase is about 12-15k in profit every year. Learn the ropes stay out of dealerships. Get a laptop and incite run your own diagnostics. Do your preventative maintenance, watch the videos and erg tune up. I had some previous experience but how I learned for today’s emissions and engines was through rawze.

I was in this truckstop in bfe new mexico , was working on my apu when this ford pickup pulling horse trailer pull up next to me. Young kid about 27 gets out with his dog and we start talking. Long story short we went in to the resturant and sat down to eat. Get to talking and this guy had converted his horse trailer and was hauling all kinds of motorcycles and small equipment in that trailer , everything off of u ship. No dot number , nothing to indicate he was in business for himself. The guy was making insane amount of money upwards of 35k a month if he was telling the truth. , which i never got the vibe that he was a liar . Just a kid a couple years older than me , working the system and making money. Like i said just a pickup and a horse trailer, one of those trailers that have the living quarters in the front , and the rest of trailer was for the bikes and other equipment. He said he got most his freight off u ship and word of mouth from guys that needed small stuff moved. Thought it was cool to see somebody do things different and outside the box , especially in the "hotshot" side of things. Not sure how legal it was with no dot number or authority or anything like that

 

Yeah I seen on Uship the dot number is “optional” when you sign up, but honestly idk why tf you wouldn’t get one because unless I’m mistaken what really kicks you right in the Jolly Rogers is about 4K down to get insurance and then the 1k a month thereafter, at least from what I’ve glanced at a few days ago; does this guy have insurance at least? Hmm I wonder if that would be considered running outlaw, because it sounds a lot better than criminal hehehe

Best way to learn is just start turning wrenches and trying to figure stuff out. Lots of really really good info on here, youtube is great if ur a visual person like me. But id just be careful working on a company truck, that is grounds for being fired if they find u "tampered" with company equipment.

 

It really does lol. The 93 when it was a 350 felt like it had more balls than a dd15...

 

The most id do on this truck is general maintenance, you know all the #### lazy drivers would just get someone else to do, upon company approval of course
