Why pay for reserved parking when truck stops will let anybody park there for free!?!

Used to cringe at how many trucks were on the off-ramp (and on-ramp) there.
Thank goodness I could make it out and back in one day.

 

What's the situation like up in Bend these days?

Last I heard. The town was trying to ban parking completely.

 

FFE does. I only use it when I have too.

 

Welcome to trucking i.e. third world parking lot. Guys park any place they feel like it these days. Fuel isle, three deep off the CAT scale, hell in front of you. It's just the way it is today. In this scared world of "he might have a gun" to " I might offend someone", nobody says anything to anybody. I'm unfortunately old school, one days I'll get my teeth knocked out for my attitude but not today...

 

I may be able to explain why this happened in TN.

The same guy owns several franchises in that area of the country.

The pilot/fj in Knoxville had an employee go wake up a driver to tell him to move. That driver went in the store and murdered 3 employees. The owner freaked out and said they cant do that anymore.

I only know this because the same thing happened to me just north of Lexington ky and the manager and I had a civil discussion about it. He let me park in a clearly marked no parking zone, gave me a free shower(as if I dont already get those), refunded my money, gave me a free soda and a free coffee in the morning.

I literally just asked him if somebody murdered three more people for not saving his spot, if they'd start moving drivers again. He laughed and said hopefully we dont find out, and then he did everything in his power to not find out.

 

That location never used to knock on doors well before that incident and the guy didn't murder those people because of anybody knocking on his door . Nobody knocked on his door , he was a driver for Swift in a free parking spot .

There was no motive established but there is speculation about a mental disorder and the fact that he got denied his old job as a corrections officer .

If you watch the video , he just got done taking a shower , went to his truck and came back inside . He then killed the 3 employees inside and stabbed another girl outside in her car who was on the phone with 911 . There was no altercation with anybody in the store prior to that . The only altercation he had that day was with a prostitute

 

And that restaurant is worth every penny. #### good food there.

 

They also said he had a notebook of writing that showed a very mentally disturbed Individual. He was from the town I live in. Durham NC. Some thought it was terrorist related because he was a Muslim but that was ruled out according to what I saw reported.

 

They just completely remodeled the restaurant over the Covid shutdown. Just re opened about 5 or 6 weeks ago. Did a real nice job! If anyone is ever through Tucson, check it out. Same location since the mid 60's. Craycroft exit.

 

I’ve actually done that. The flying j in KC couldn’t get a guy to move and since they had a fuel pump down they told me to Park in the fuel island with a cone behind me.
