Ecms are notorious for lieing , ive been tracking mine on hard numbers for about 300k now and my ecm is always at least a half mile per gallon better than the hard numbers on long term averages ...if my ecm says 7mpg over a 10 day period its always more like 6.5 on hard numbers .

When I got my Volvo at GHT the reading was 6.4. But this Volvo had a 500 HP engine and was running higher RPM's, great for pulling in the mountains, not so good for fuel mileage. And it was a conestoga and not a reefer, reefers are better for fuel mileage. The distance between the cab and the trailer was huge, not good for the fuel mileage. But I always ran her flat on the floor with 75 mph and used the performance mode a lot in the mountains. It was just fun to drive this truck, the only truck I had that was about the same fun was a 389 Pete with the 500 HP ISX 15 Cummins. The Cummins was around 5.0 and was governed to 65 mph
When I returned the truck, the reading was still 6.4
