Biggest issue is fuel mileage with that truck. 358 with some work done it gets about 5miles a gallon. And more lease companies requiring ELD every year. In today’s world it just isn’t smart business to run it. I’ll most likely end up with an ugly aero truck sent up for a dry van. -
People that run pre-emission , non-eld, paper logs are on borrowed time. If you think for a second , the gubment hasn't thought about you, you are sadly mistaken. I'm flabbergasted, paper logs, almost 70 years old, are still acceptable. I believe they began using paper logs after the war. If I was a LEO, I wouldn't believe a line of a paper log. The way it is today, the only reason you do a paper log is because you can't legally use an ELD.( guilty until proven innocent) They're not stupid. It won't be long, and all that will end, you'll see.

Short haul and livestock. Especially together. Just saying. ELD not needed, and doesn't work flawlessly, either.
Just ask someone using Peoplenet.650cat425, 201, Scooter2198 and 1 other person Thank this. -
You can't run California with non emssion engine. That doesn't matter to some people , just something to remember if you did not already know.

actually have a cow pit job lined up once I get a trailer. But he requires 5 years OTR first. But I’ll most likely haul a dry van anyway. Soon they will screw up live stock aswell.Timin770 Thanks this.

I'm not kidding about the not working off the grid part. Our yard has spots that cause things to foul up. Not been way out yonder since we got these things, but they work better on the super slab than the cowpath in my experience.

Your glider motor will still have an ECM and an ECM port. The port will likely be what we call a "6-pin gray" but I have seen them put the newer 9-pin ports on some gliders nonetheless. So, the short answer is "yes" it will accept an ELD from an ELD provider that has been around long enough that they have the interface working for even the pre-2000 ECMs. You will just need the correct cable and have the ELD configured with the right "messages" software for that ECM.
