I posted under seeks employment (o/o needs to find good lease company), but it doesn't seem to active. Didn't want to repost same thing on here. Maybe someone could take a look, and maybe help! Thanks!

You have your own tractor and are looking for a place to lease on that has their own trailers or what?
-
Need info on a good company, large or small, to lease on with. Prefer input from other o/o's that are happy where they're at. Experience with reefer, van, oversize, dd, sd, flatbed, but prefer reefer or van. I do have plates and insurance, but not my own trailer. Have no tickets or accidents ever, and can be gone from home for any length of time. Any help would be appreciated, as I have just about exhausted all of my resources! Thanks to all!

A reefer company you may want to look into is Houg. They're out of Colorado. They provide trailers and I've looked over a copy of their lease agreement. Dart/Decker seem above board too. Thanks for the clarification but sorry I'm not much help.
Best of luck to you though

Take a look at D&T out of Little Canada,MN. I have looked at them a little bit for a place to put one of my trucks as I have a driver that lives in that area. You might also look at Roadrunner. They have a terminal in the cities as well.

somthing specil: now your going to hear all kinds of storys about different companys but i think if your going to have to lease to a company landstar is the best company out there BUT they do not have a dispatch system they have plenty of freight but YOU have to pick and choose, there money is good and there extreamly nice people to work with.
they have reefer, flatbed, stepdeck, and vans so you can pretty much pull what you want, check them out for yourself dont listen to all the hype, hype never did pay anything, i lease to them for two years till i got my own trailers and it was great.
good luck to you. ----southernpride -
Southernpride you need more current info if your going to issue a recomndation like that. I'm currently leased to landstar and our average rate for vans these days is $1.30 to $1.45 mi and that is before&andstar takes their whopping 36%
Plus you don't even get plates permits or insurance for that 36%
Our reefer loaded pay good but they are very few and you can't ever get a load to them. Our rates to CA are lucky to hit $1.10mi gross right now.
I can't speak for flats, they seem to be a little better.Markvfl Thanks this. -
OUCH!
I don't think there's a magical company out there that offers everything an owner could want. Do your research and pick the lesser of all evils. No plates, permits or insurance for that 36% is sad. Makes it all the tougher. I looked at a lot of these companies and decided having my own trailer was the key. That's not an option for a lot of folks and I understand that. I put myself in a bind getting one, but feel I'll be better off that way and not paying anywhere close to that 36%.southernpride Thanks this. -
Check out RBX in Springfield MO. They have a pretty good deal. Was leased to them for about 5 yrs. Regional Carrier. Only operate in 26 states.

good mourning medicine man: now you bring up a good point my informacine is not current its been a good while sense i leased to anyone and i will make some calls today and get some current enformation on landstar.but i just sent a driver over there a few weeks ago and he loves it so i dont think it has all changed but as i said ill make some calls today and get some current information and get it posted this afterenoon.
BUT even if things have changed as you have said they are still the best company out there to lease to.
you mentioned 36% if you pull there trailer, well that is about right and yeah its to much that one of the big reasons why i dont lease anymore period seems that they all charge about the same and i think that paying that amount to pul a trailer is just plain nuts but some have to do it .
now a reefer load to cal or ANY WHERE ELSE for 1.10a mile is just bplain nuts and in my humbel opinon they do that because they can there is always a driver that will take thhat cheap load and there is only one personh that can change that THE DRIVER as long as drivers take them there going to have loads like that.
thats one of the many reasons why i no longer pull a reefer every time i hear about a 1.10 load just makes me feel better about my stepdecks .
but like the man said there is no such thing as a custom made company for the individual driver each has to do what suits him.
the reason i recomend landstar is that your free to pick and choose as you please , you dont have to take that cheap load you are free to park i till a better one comes along and yeah i no somtimes that is hard to do but at the same time its rather easy to go in the hole pulling that cheap freight .
i fail to understand how you make money at thhat rate with fuel more then 250 a gallon , maybe i need a new calculater.
as far as tags and insurance and permits , well maybe the law has changed , like i said ill make some calls and find out ill post my findings this afternoon. its time i updated my information anyway.
best of luck to all.----southernpride
